Through our work
together, life will
get brighter
Well done for recognising that something needs to change.
I consider it a sign of enormous bravery that you’re thinking about coming to see me for counselling and psychotherapy, and taking the first step on your journey towards feeling better and showing up differently in the world.
Delivering LGBTQ+ and non-monogamy affirmative therapy, I know that we all experience difficult and painful things in life and we all need other people to lean on at times, to help us through some of the more painful or challenging situations or to help us grow into kind, loving people, free from shame.
Counselling and psychotherapy, whether in person or online therapy with a skilled trainee psychotherapist can help you make changes, both in how you feel about life, and more widely.
Things that feel overwhelming today will begin to get easier and over time, through our work together, life will get brighter.
Emotional distress can be caused by lots of different things:
Past experiences, such as challenges with parents, siblings and childhood trauma
Challenges that you are experiencing right now, such as unhappiness in your relationships and feeling down
Concerns about the future, such as the impending loss of a job or loved one
Initial consultation
When you’ve called or sent an email enquiry, we’ll arrange a time for a brief phone call to set up an initial consultation, either online or in person out of premises I share with colleagues still in either online or in Stokes Croft or Orchard Street.
This safe space is held for you and what’s discussed is governed by our confidentiality policy.
During this initial consultation, we’ll begin creating a working relationship by talking about what brings you to therapy and confirming what day and time we’ll meet each week.
Working online
There is a growing body of evidence that psychotherapy delivered online is highly effective and this is something I am very happy to offer should it suit you better.
Working online can be particularly beneficial for clients with sensory conditions as it means that you have more control over the space you are in.
Online psychotherapy is also useful for those who live further afield, who have low mobility or who travel for work.
Rest assured that we can still create a safe space together online, that eveything we discuss is subject to my confidentiality policy and that excellent outcomes can be achieved.
During sessions
Everything is up for discussion. Whether that’s challenging family relationships or the intergenerational trauma of systemic oppression, there is no conversation we cannot have. Counselling and psychotherapy lends itself well to people who recognise that they want to change they way they show up in life and the work of a trainee psychotherapist is to help you do just that.
Together we’ll be curious and supportive of your experience, become aware of some of the repeating patterns of relating that no longer serve your growth and wellbeing and slowly, gently, life will start feeling warmer and brighter.
